Going for holiday in he snow opposed to the sand can be a great adventure. In fact, snow has proven to be more exciting than sand. It offers way more activities such as building snowmen, igloos or having snowball fights. You can hardly do any of the like with sand. Holidays in the snow can be all the more exciting if they are taken in the arctic circle. Here is a quick glimpse to the countries you can visit and a few of the things that you can do with an arctic circle holiday.

Iceland

Although very small, it should not be discounted as big fun. Iceland is quite possibly the best place to see the Northern Lights from. Most people dream of seeing the shades of greens, pinks, blues, and purples drape across the sky in a mesmerizing fashion. People will travel from all over the world just to see the Northern Lights here. This isn’t the only natural phenomenon that Iceland has to offer. You can take a trip through the Pjorsardaur Valley and see mountains that are different than any others you have ever seen. The molten lava that created the rocks on these mountains a long time ago contained chemicals that gave the rocks unordinary colors. The wonderful colors gave this valley the nickname, “The Pearl of the Central Highlands.” If you continue to travel through the valley you will come to Hjalparfoss waterfall and its hot springs. I’d be cautious about taking a dip though as the water can be extremely hot.

Finland

This is a land that is full of a rich and wonderful history. Visiting a country with a deep history is always good for travelers because it offers lots of sites to see. One place to visit is the Turku Cathedral. The reason that this Cathedral is visited frequently is because of the beautiful craftsmanship of the building and especially the stained glass windows. Many famous Fins are buried here, try not to be freaked out! Finland can also be a great destination for lapland holidays 2013. Finnish lapland is one of the best places in the world to holiday. The friendly and warm people here can make this holiday all the worthwhile. Also, Finnish lapland is home to Santa’s house. I don’t think thats anything that someone would want to miss out on.

Sweden

This is another country that is home to some of the warmest and most welcoming people in the world. This can be the difference between a good holiday and a great holiday. Sweden also has a wide range of activities ranging from adrenaline pumping to pure serenity. If you are more of the extreme holiday type, Sweden has over 200 ski resorts that are all over the country. One of the best resorts to visit is in Arefjallen as it has over a hundred kilometers of skiing slopes for beginners and experts alike. If you’d like to relax a bit more you can take a wilderness safari and maybe run into a moose, a lynx, a brown bear or a wolverine. This can be relaxing but still offer a bit of a thrill!
